Ran Godfrey is an SHL player, who was drafted by the Citadel Centurions in the 2015 SHL Draft. Ran is described as a "captain-killer" whose talent is superior and very exceptional in the league. Ran's season in the JSHL was a combined total of 115 games, 92 goals, 110 assists, and 202 points.
Having a successful first season, Ran finished with 36 goals and 50 assists for 86 points, leading the Citadel Centurions in points, in only 65 games. Because of his offensive efforts and being a drive for boosting Citadel's offense, Godfrey was nominated, and subsequently won the Katana Trophy for the league's best rookie in the 2015-2016 Season. In the playoffs, the Centurions went to the finals, but lost 4-2 to the Black Blades. Godfrey was criticized for his playoff performance, netting only 11 points in 26 games played, with 2 goals and 9 assists respectively, on 80 shots. Because of this, Ran said in an interview that he "failed the Centurions".
Off the game field, Ran has been known to be a huge fan of Team Daiku.
After the 2017-2018 Season, Ran signed a 4-year/$27.2m extension worth $6.8m a year annually, after waiting until late August to figure out a deal, earning offers from teams such as the Scarlet Saviors, Koren Killers, and New Harbour Blues, before finally coming to terms with Citadel. Originally, the offer was $5m a season for 8 years (the maximum), due to Ran's previous 60 point season.
